Haven’t Seen a Dentist in Some Time? Stop Using These Excuses and Go!

Even though you would not dream of skipping your annual physical, scheduling an appointment with a dentist seems to be an entirely different matter. The fact is that your overall health and the condition of your teeth and gums are forever intertwined. Why won’t you make the call and go see one of the Barrie Smile Centre dentists? If you’re using any of the following excuses, it’s time to set them aside and start taking better care of your teeth.

I’m Not Having Any Dental Problems Right Now

It’s great that you aren’t feeling any pain, and that your teeth seem to be in good shape. That does not mean that a trip to the dentist would be a waste of time. A thorough dental exam will either confirm your teeth and gums are fine, or it will uncover some emerging issue that will cause problems later on.

Think of how much easier it is to deal with an issue when it’s still in the early stages. Get the work done now and it won’t have a chance to get worse. Even better, it will never have the opportunity to trigger additional dental problems.

My Teeth Look Great

One look in the mirror is all it takes to confirm that your teeth look great. Your regimen of brushing after meals, flossing daily, and using mouthwash that helps to get rid of bacteria has a lot to do with that. What you may be missing is some of the residue that collects in between your teeth.

This is where having a professional cleaning once or twice a year will make a difference. The cleaning gets rid of whatever is left after you finish with the daily dental hygiene that’s become your habit. Along with getting rid of residue that could damage the teeth over time, you also get to enjoy that heightened sensation of freshness that comes with every cleaning. Isn’t that worth finding time to see the dentist?

There’s No Time for a Dental Appointment

Time is often cited as the reason for not seeing a dentist. It’s true that schedules can become crowded, but you do manage to make time for other important things. Consider seeing a dentist to be a priority and figure out what can be pushed off to a later date in order to accommodate an exam or a cleaning. In the long run, it will all get done and your teeth will remain in better shape.

I Can’t Afford Dental Care

Money is also one of the more common reasons why people choose to put off a trip to the dentist. When you don't have dental coverage, or if it's not all that great, where will the funds come from to cover the cost? One solution is a medical loan. This approach as become such a common part of the dentistry process that you may be able to apply and be approved in a matter of minutes or hours. Once the financing is settled, have whatever work you need done as quickly as possible.

I’m Ashamed for the Dentist to See My Teeth

When you know your teeth aren’t in the best shape, it’s natural to not want anyone to see them. Remember that dentists see teeth in all types of conditions. While you may think yours are terrible, there’s a good chance that the dentist has seen worse. In any case, the focus is on improving your dental health, not judging you. Stop worrying and go. It could be the first step to restoring your smile.

Call today and schedule a dental checkup. See how things go and what you learn during the appointment. Once you see the dentist and understand more about why regular care is important you’re more likely to schedule at least a couple of appointments each year.
